A Place to Bee & Unite4Climate – GreenDrinks Bonn hosts #24HoursOfReality Watch Party on Dec. 5th

1

Join us for drinks, tasty food and good conversation at Que será Tapas Bar on Tuesday!  This GreenDrinks event in the heart of Old Town is a chance to network with eco-friendly people, talk sustainability and tune into the live stream of Al Gore’s 24-hours of climate reality broadcast.

On December 4-5, former US Vice President Al Gore will host the annual Climate Reality event —24 Hours of Reality: Be the Voice of Reality—  a live broadcast that will travel the globe for 24 straight hours featuring an all-star lineup of celebrated thought leaders, climate scientists, policy makers and artists from around the world.

It will be carried by broadcast partners globally, and streamed live online at 24HoursofReality.org and on the Bonnections Facebook Page.

Bonn mayor Ashok-Alexander Sridharan will be a guest in an hour specific to Germany on Tuesday afternoon (5-6 PM) along with Siemens Chief Technology Officer Dr. Roland Busch and UN Global Compact Executive Director Lise Kingo to explore the country’s shift to renewables and greater sustainability.

Al Gore visited Bonn last month during the COP23 UN climate conference for the Climate Summit of Local and Regional Leaders on 12 November and a special screening of his new film An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth To Power.

“Great visit to Bonn for #COP23. It was clear that American leadership on#climate is still strong, despite the best efforts of our “official” delegation,” he wrote afterwards in a tweet.

Greendrinks Bonn is hosting a watch party for the climate reality broadcast on Dec. 5th and inviting people to watch a segment of the program together. The GreenDrinks Bonn December Meetup will also include a honey tasting. (See event details below)

Be the Voice of Reality

We will tune into the livestream starting at 6:30 PM to join the conversation and watch parts of the Europe and South America broadcast with inspiring stories about practical solutions to the climate crisis and musical performances.

France – 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM CET
UK – 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM CET
Brazil – 8:00 PM – 9 PM CET

Featured artists include Jean-Michel Jarre, Annie Lennox, Levi Hummon and Billy Bragg.

Save The Bees

The GreenDrinks get-together is also an opportunity to taste a variety of delicious honeys brought to us by Borislav Živojnov, a visiting beekeeper from Serbia, and to learn how you can help save the world’s bee population and pollinator-friendly habitats. His bee hives are located in the “Deliblato Sand” preserve in the Banat, part of the traditional Danube Swabian region, with a profusion of bee-friendly wild flowers and plants.

Bees have been under scrutiny in recent years, with populations of honeybees and bumblebees dramatically declining in some parts of Europe. Suggested causes include habitat change due to industrial agriculture, climate change and the use of insecticides, particularly neonicotinoids.

GreenDrinks Bonn is a casual monthly mixer for everyone interested in green business and environmental issues and part of the international GreenDrinks network. It’s a joint initiative of Unity Effect e.V. , Bonnections ,The Tannenbusch House and the Bonn Energy & Envionmental Roundtable (BEER).

The goal is to bring together eco-friendly, internationally open-minded people to help shape a future that’s green and sustainable and create a conversation where individuals can share ideas and opportunities, or gain support for a cause. We meet the first Tuesday of the month at 7 pm in different venues to support local business and Bonn’s growing sustainability eco-system. www.greendrinks.org/bonn
